Program Description
Kids Jiu-Jitsu at Arte Suave Jiu Jitsu Academy in Beckley, WV is structured Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for ages 5 to 13. Kids learn real, age-appropriate technique, not watered-down movement games, in a safe environment built on discipline and respect.
Every class is run by Coach Chris McKinney, with supervised drilling and controlled, matched rolling. Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 PM and Saturday from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. Tuesday focuses on fundamentals and positional drills, Thursday covers the technique of the week with live rolling, and Saturday brings games, open mat, and sparring.

Classes teach age-appropriate Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fundamentals kids can actually use, relying on leverage and positioning rather than size or strength.

Coach Chris McKinney runs every class personally, with supervised drilling and controlled, matched rolling so every child trains safely.

Structured warm-ups, mat etiquette, and teammates who look out for each other help kids build focus and respect that shows up at home and in school.
